This week Jon Burgess from IMOS will be presenting a session title Virtualisation: for fun and profit. Jon will attempt to explain the what, why and how of virtual machines and introduce you to a helpful vagrant along the way (his words, not mine). Note that this week’s session will be held in the IMAS Board Room (on level 2). I will be down in the foyer to sign in any visitors as required around 9:12.
ALSO: We now have a strong December line up in place to finish the DaSH year. Next week Eric Oliver will be showing us all how to use vector graphics programs for improving figures in talks/posters, followed the week after by Ben Raymond who will continue on the text editor theme started by Tom last week.
AND: A fellow DaSHer has asked me to advertise the upcoming International Workshop on Big Data Analytics for Biosecurity (http://www.csiro.au/BioBAD15), which is a part of the prestigious 31st IEEE international conference on Data Engineering (http://www.icde2015.kr/).
