Starting next Friday (26 June), and running for 6 weeks, the Data Science Hobart (DaSH) group will be running a series of workshops based on the popular Software Carpentry course. Sessions will be held from 9-11 each Friday morning in the IMAS waterfront building. These sessions are open to anyone with an interest in improving their computing skills with respect to data science. Each session focuses on a different topic, and over the course of 6 weeks we will cover an intro to software carpentry, the unix shell, SQL, R, Python and Git. No need to RSVP, just turn up on the day.
The software needed for this course can be installed as per instructions at https://software-carpentry.org/v5/setup.html. These instructions either let you install a complete virtual machine, or individual packages as needed.
